Prehen House is a rare and sophisticated early Georgian family home, boasting one of Ireland's finest interiors. This grade A building lies within idyllic landscaped parkland and woods, featuring the derelict duck pond (for trapping), ice house and walled garden. It has a lively and dramatic history that includes the Legend of Half-Hanged McNaughton as well as the escape of a German Baron. Prehen is home to the historic Knox family; among them are adventurers, writers, poets, pranksters, code-breakers and Bishops. Open 2-5 pm Tuesday to Sunday, March to October.
