Originally built by Hugh Maguire in the 15th century, the castle consists of a central keep and a curtain wall. In the 18th century the castle was remodelled as the Castle Barracks and now houses the Regimental Museum of the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers. The museum was established in 1976 by Fermanagh District Council. The Inniskillings Museum with its collection of uniforms, weapons, medals and memorabilia, is the second museum dating back to the 17th Century. Today the castle hosts exhibitions and events for the public and also offers educational programmes for primary and secondary schools.
