The Bakehouse Centre was specially converted from a former bakehouse and two cottages to house today's Museum which is reputed to have its own ghost! It reflects the early beginnings of the town from the arrival of St. Brannock from South Wales in the 6th Century, through to its agricultural and later maritime heritage. Nearby you will find the Great Field, this is a living example of one of only two early Saxon strip-farming systems remaining in England and it is still operational today.
